Nice capture!

Pat Speirs replied:

Thanks, much appreciated. PS the original Fenwick is just three miles away from where we are in Auld Scotia.

Artist's Description

Red Arrows - HS Hawk

The colourful and elegant mount for the premier aerobatic team in world aviation - the Red Arrows. Built to RAF specification for an advanced trainer the Hawk is in use with over 18 air forces world-wide and over 900 have been built. Highly manoeuvrable and capable of handling +8/-4 G the Hawk has been used by the Red Arrows team since 1979.

Still under development with the Hawk T2 coming into RAF service in 2009 and the export version sold to several other air forces. The Hawk can be fitted with a 30mm cannon pack and Sidewinder missile systems if required for combat operations.

The Red Arrows always have a full calendar of events with 74 scheduled for this year including Moscow, Czech Republic, Malta and Madrid - a versatile and superbly capable aircraft.

About Pat Speirs

Pat Speirs

Have been interested in photography since just after WW2, when film became freely available again, using Kodak Autographic equipment. Graduated, in the 50's, to 35mm and was involved in photographic work during my 17 yrs as RAF aircrew - navigator. Since retirement and migrating to Canon digital equipment have been involved with two of my sons and one grandson in a considerable amount of photographic activity, particularly composite images. Now producing digital art prints with the major emphasis on classic warbird aviation. With son, Duncan, now becoming a well-known and published wild life photographer we have started, in 2017, a new gallery reflecting Scottish sea birds - and 'feathered' flight
