Miss Velma
This Mustang airframe, one of the last of the D series to be built, is finished in the colour scheme of Miss Velma. Miss Velma served with the 343rd Fighter Squadron based at Wormingford, part of the 55th Group, during the latter stages of WW2. The 343rd acted primarily in the B17 escort role but was also tasked with ground attack duties. Reigning supreme in this role the Group hold the record for locomotives destroyed at 970 during their 8th AF operations.
