Description
WW1 Wings
Created with a tongue in cheek nod to the WW1 film Wings a cinema epic made in 1927 that won the first ever award that became the Oscars.
A section of Se5s on escort duty with the pair of Re8s seen departing lower right have been bounced by a group of Fokker Dr1s. In the following melee the Se5s break hard left to draw away the Dr1s from the Re8s accounting for a Dr1 in the process. A hard place to be in the latter stages of WW1 where a fighter pilot was lucky to last longer than a month.

Thank you, much appreciated. Stunning shots of the Japanese icons in your p/f, so difficult to come by over here! Enjoyed visiting you.

Very cool! This has great lighting and composition to show what a dogfight in those days must have looked like. Those SE5s better not get in a turning fight with those Dr1s, and just use their superior speed to win this one. That movie is still a good one to watch all these decades later.
Pat Speirs replied:
Thanks Douglas, quite right, the SE5's need to beat feet home. He who runs away.................!
