‘He aint heavy he’s my brother’
Canadian Lancasters of Group make for base in Yorkshire in the winter dawn light. One Lancaster struggles with No 2 engine out and fuel leaking from the port wing tanks. Another of the squadron Lancs, crewed by a colleague, acts as shepherd and moral support to encourage the disabled ship home. The Canadians had a superlative record within Bomber Command with no less than 14 heavy bomber squadrons based in the York area.

I agree, Pat, we do owe them all a great debt. I am sure your work helps keep their sacrifice "alive." Again, great image. Even though it shows weapons of war, it is nevertheless a seemingly peaceful scene.

Beautiful! (I am honored to know a Canadian Bomber Command Flight Engineer, although he flew Halifaxs, great man with great stories, and one of the very few who survived the whole war flying in action).

Thank you for your comment and interest in the Lancaster print. We all owe your friend, and all his colleagues, a great debt. I hope that some of my work helps to keep their sacrifice 'alive'.
