Description
Spitfire Series
One Down
A pair of Spitfires pull away from a successful strike on a Bf110. By the end of the Battle of Britain the Bf110 was unable to compete as a front-line fighter but was developed into a useful night fighter later in WW2. The lessons of Sept 1940 meant that the RAF was rapidly developing more effective tactics with the fighter pair becoming the combat norm - here the No 2 has followed instructions from his more experienced lead to stick to me like glue.
