The waist gunner has time to watch as the full strike package of 381st Gp B17s and escort form up for another mission. Many hours would pass as the formation was assembled and then came the long transit to the target area, and at temperatures around -30C at operational heights the waist gunners post was no soft option.
Set sometime late in 1944 the B17s have dropped the dull camouflage finish and are resplendent in unit colours. The P51s sport the �D-day stripes� and, again, individual colour schemes.

I have always been fascinated by the WWII air war and have always wanted to paint those subjects . Your work is wonderful and inspires me to do so. Your "Before the Storm" reminds me of an item on my bucket list .. #23 fire a belt or 2 through a waist gun position of a B17

Thanks for the input - good to hear from you. Think that maybe #23 may be a mite difficult - tho' I believe that Yankee Warrior does offer passenger service, guess you'll just have to shout 'bang'!!
