‘Conclusion’
By early 1945 the Allied forces had achieved virtual air superiority in European skies and it was tactically sound to employ Bomber Command in daylight operations. A long hard road had been travelled to arrive at this conclusion, the eventual success had been dearly bought with the loss of close on 50% of the aircrew employed by Bomber Command units. A section of Canadian Lancasters from 6 Group are seen here on one of the final sorties of WW2.
