Polikarpov – I15 bis
One of the advanced designs from the Polikarpov stable in the mid 1930’s the I15 served in China and in the Spanish Civil war. Supplied in great numbers to the Russian Air Force the I15 was thrust into combat in the early days of Operation Barbarossa. The tough, manoeuvrable little biplane made it’s make in the initial combats in 1941 and is seen here where a He111 is seen off by a pair of Polikarpovs.
