Description
Released!
Mustang pair released from their outbound escort duty (with 8th AF B17s) start the drop down to a low level run over Northern Europe. By late 1944 the need for camouflage finish had gone and many units adopted their own individual paint schemes - indeed, many pilots went for their own preferred finish.
With their escort function complete the P51s went hunting for targets of opportunity (ie anything that moved!) on the way home - exhilarating flying which kept German military traffic on their toes.
