Description
Douglas DC3 - Dakota
This DC3 started life in the Boeing factory in 1942 - shipped to the US 8th Air Force in 1943, almost certainly took part in the D-Day operations and was sold on to Finland in 1948. Operated by Finnair as civilian airliner until 1969 when it was refurbished and served as the Finnish Presidents personal aircraft until 1985. Obtained by a Norwegian group of enthusiasts in 1986 it is now preserved, but still regularly flown and licensed to carry 19 passengers, and a regular attendee at Duxford Legends airshow. Although the logbook records well over 38,000 hours flying time the aircraft is maintained in magnificent shape and a perfect study for photographers

I am really getting envious lol! I am considering moving to Trenton hahaha! Wow that is such a backdrop supporting this DC3-Dakota! The mountains makes it so dramatic looking! So stunning! Voted Fav.

A beautiful image, Pat. I saw this aircraft taking part in a wonderful display along with another DC3 at last year's Duxford Legends show.

She is a regular at Duxford and always immaculate and beautifully flown - thanks for your interest, much appreciated.
