Sopwith Triplane �Overwatch�
Two Royal Navy fighters over Flanders during world war 1 locked in combat with a German Fokker Dr1 over the trench warfare below. As the Sopwith triplane stoops after the Dr1 the other Navy fighter watches over his friend and leader. The start of leader and wing-man concept in aerial warfare.
Coming into service in late 1916 the Sopwith quickly made it�s mark as a particularly agile aircraft. The German air industry rushed to provide a competitor, resulting in the (in)famous Fokker Triplane. The Sopwith served mainly with the Royal Navy and with particular distinction with 10 Sqdn comprised of Canadian pilots.
